Ferrari will return to the ‘lollipop’ system in the pits during the Japanese Grand Prix after the issues encountered in Singapore.
Felipe Massa lost all chance of scoring points during the first night race when the electronic system positioned above the driver during his pit stop turned green.
This system of lights functions normally and turns green when the refueling hose is removed, but the system was manually operated in Singapore.
The team manager of Scuderia, Stefano Domenicali, stated that it was necessary to simplify things at the moment and that the team will use the lollipop during the next race weekend in Fuji.
« At the moment we need peace and quiet, therefore, we prefer to return to the old system, » he stated.
Ferrari scored no points in Singapore and lost the lead in the Constructors’ World Championship to McLaren, with only three races remaining.
Massa is seven points behind the British Lewis Hamilton.
