Emergency meeting between FIA and FOTA

FIA President Max Mosley will meet with FOTA, the association of various Formula 1 teams, immediately after the Chinese Grand Prix to urgently discuss cost-cutting measures required by the sport.

Last night, Mosley told the BBC that F1 will face serious difficulties if teams cannot reduce their spending before 2010.

He met today in Nice with the president of FOTA, who is also the head of Ferrari, Luca di Montezemolo, to agree on the necessary arrangements for the continuation of discussions with FOTA.

According to a statement from the FIA: « After a constructive meeting, it was agreed that the FIA president will invite all FOTA members to a meeting that will take place after the Chinese Grand Prix. »

« At this future meeting, the FIA will discuss with the teams the strategic decisions that are now urgently required. »

The statement also announced that the meeting would cover the following topics: cost reduction and future technical regulations regarding chassis.
