The organizers of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix have unveiled the Yas Marina Circuit, which will, in 2009, host the country’s first race.
The track, which is still under construction, has been unveiled through simulation.
« The Yas Marina Circuit entered my life over a year ago, and now I am very proud to present one of the most sophisticated tracks on the F1 calendar, » said Philippe Gurdjian, director of Motorsport Management in Abu Dhabi.
« There will also be a hotel overlooking the circuit, a marina with a yacht club, and grandstands that are 100% covered, something that has never been seen before. »
His Excellency Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of ADMM, added: « The Yas Marina Circuit represents a significant investment in sports infrastructure. »
« It is a work of art in terms of engineering, design, and construction. »
« It was therefore designed based on the needs and characteristics of the city. »
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be the final race of the next season on November 15, 2009.
