A plan aimed at cost reduction was agreed upon between the FIA and the Formula 1 Teams Association (FOTA) during a meeting in Geneva.
It appears that a broad agreement has been reached between FIA President Max Mosley and FOTA President Luca di Montezemolo to introduce new measures for a drastic cost reduction next year.
According to a statement: « Today’s meeting in Geneva focused on cost savings for 2009 and 2010. »
« The FOTA is already working urgently on new proposals for 2010 and beyond.
Even though the statement does not detail specific measures, it seems that there are four key points that have been approved:
A spokesperson for the FIA stated that it was inappropriate to make further comments at this time but described the meeting as very positive and constructive.
Another source added that the meeting was of historical importance because it was the first time the teams showed unanimity in their discussions about the future of the sport.
