Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo wishes to speak to Max Mosley, president of the FIA, in order to change certain rules in the way a team is managed.
After the scandal caused by the position change between Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello (both with Ferrari at the time) on the final straight of the 2002 Austrian Grand Prix, any team order that could influence the outcome of a race was banned by the FIA.
The rule has been accepted and has caused little controversy since. However, Kimi Räikkönen gave up his place to Felipe Massa in China a few laps before the finish. New questions have been raised.
And di Montezemolo wishes to discuss this point with Mosley during an upcoming meeting.
« I will talk about it with Mosley. We must get rid of this hypocrisy. The important thing is not to harm other drivers. Moreover, teamwork in a team sport is one of the best things, » explained di Montezemolo in the columns of Gazzetta dello Sport.
Di Montezemolo also acknowledges that there may have been too many penalties imposed on drivers by the track stewards in this 2008 season.
Maybe the race stewards were a bit too picky, but I agree with them; otherwise, the Grand Prix would quickly become a mess.
