After a rather difficult season for the former world champion, Kimi Räikkönen, whose last victory dates back to Spain and who only finished in 3rd place on the podium, promised he would return to the highest level next year.
The Finnish driver stated: « Last season didn’t go as I wanted. »
« She started very well but afterward, there were too many negative moments. We made mistakes, like our opponents, but we paid a high price for them. We were not able to make up the deficit, and I was eliminated from the title race too early, » admits the 2007 world champion.
« But that’s already in the past, » he adds, determined to bounce back.
« Next year, we will be back on the top step of the podium. The new regulations will lead to some changes. Therefore, it is quite difficult to say what 2009 will look like, but I think we will be competitive. When there are changes, Ferrari generally adapts faster than other teams. We will have to wait to see what our capabilities will be and set our goals for the championship. »
With a re-motivated Kimi Räikkönen, we are likely to have an even more thrilling 2009 season than that of 2008.
