Lewis Hamilton claims there has never been any personal conflict between him and Fernando Alonso despite the tense relations within the McLaren team last season.
Even though the Iberian acknowledged, at the time, that the competition between the two drivers was very strong, the new world champion pointed out this weekend from Stuttgart that the former duo always maintained mutual respect for each other.
« I don’t think there was a disagreement between us. We respected each other from the moment we met, » the Briton confided.
Hamilton also thanked the Spaniard for his gesture as he came in person to the McLaren stand to congratulate him after clinching his title in Brazil last weekend.
« It was great to see him in the garage. I turned around and he was there, just to congratulate me. Then he also congratulated the rest of the team. »
« I have enormous respect for him. His gesture reflects who he is: A great driver and I am very happy for him, » concluded Lewis Hamilton.
