Hakkinen opens a new chapter in his career

The two-time Formula 1 world champion, Mika Häkkinen, announced that he is starting a new career as a driver manager.

The one who won the 1998 and 1999 championships joins As Groupe where he will work alongside his former manager Didier Coton, associate director of As Groupe.

Hakkinen’s role will be to identify and nurture new talent among young drivers.

“It’s extremely difficult to join a new company with such great responsibilities,” said Hakkinen, who retired from Formula 1 racing at the end of the 2001 season.

« I am very happy to continue working with Didier Coton who has been, and still is, an integral part of my professional success. »

From my own experience, I understand what a champion needs to reach the top and how vital it is for them to have a group of professionals working around them. I wish to share my experience as a double world champion with young, ambitious, and talented drivers.

Coton added: « Group As is very happy to extend its cooperation with Mika Hakkinen by being part of a new chapter in his career. »

His talent as a driver is no longer in question. Qualities such as dedication and concentration, which he needed to become a double world champion, will be welcome in his new role. I also know how much he wants to share his knowledge with young drivers eager to become champions.

« For a few weeks, we have involved Mika in everything we were doing. His new career has taken off! » He concluded.
