Loeb prepares for the Barcelona tests with Red Bull

We announced it to you a few weeks ago, Sébastien Loeb will carry out a full day of testing with the Red Bull team next week. The test will take place on Monday, November 17, at the Spanish circuit in Barcelona. To avoid arriving unexpectedly, Loeb completed a preparation day yesterday at Silverstone with Red Bull.

Sébastien Loeb is one of the most successful Frenchmen in motorsport. He was recently crowned for the fifth consecutive time in the World Rally Championship (WRC) and, like Valentino Rossi (MotoGP), he wants to experience new sensations. The Alsatian will drive a Peugeot 908 from the ’24 Hours of Le Mans’ on November 27 as part of an exchange organized with Total and the PSA Group (Peugeot-Citroën). Before that, he will be able to compare himself with other drivers on the Formula 1 grid.

The driver of the Citroën C4 believes that this test was necessary: « This day really helped me prepare; I was able to meet the team members I will be working with and, above all, study the single-seater in detail. It also allowed me to mold a seat and feel comfortable. »

« The conditions will be very different in Barcelona, however! ». The Frenchman even says he is apprehensive about this day: « I will compare myself to other drivers for the first time. It’s very interesting, but really not easy especially since I don’t know either the circuit or the car’s capabilities without driver assistance! »

During this day at Silverstone, the Frenchman completed about a hundred kilometers, mostly in the rain. This test was therefore only an introduction to driving the RB4. Loeb had already driven an F1 car last March in a 2006 Renault. He was able to get within a second of Heikki Kovalainen’s best time.

On Monday, Loeb will therefore be able to compete with the world’s elite drivers in real conditions. Nine teams are expected. Only Toyota is not announced.
