Olivier Panis caught going 212 Km/h on the highway!

The former Formula 1 driver, Olivier Panis, had his license revoked last Friday by the gendarmerie. The Frenchman was caught speeding at over 200 Km/H.

Olivier Panis is a former Formula 1 driver. He is one of the few Frenchmen to have driven an F1 car in the past ten years. He notably drove for Ligier at the start of his career in 1993, where he later achieved a prestigious victory in Monaco. He then joined Prost Grand Prix and was a test driver for McLaren-Mercedes. He eventually returned to racing with BAR Honda, and then in 2003 with Toyota. He was a test driver in 2004 and 2005, the year of his official retirement from Formula 1.

Aged 42, Panis has now transitioned into a ‘businessman’. He notably manages the French team in the A1 GP championship and leads the Oreca team in the endurance championship and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The Lyonnais was caught speeding at 212 Km/h while driving a Ferrari. He was on the A40 motorway where the speed limit is 130, near the commune of Vougy, reports the statement from the Bonneville Gendarmerie patrol (Haute-Savoie).

After being taken into custody, he immediately had his driver’s license revoked and his car confiscated. It was the Dauphiné Libéré that reported this information in the press on Saturday. This makes him the 6th F1 driver to have had his license revoked in the past ten years.
