The chances of Rubens Barrichello retaining his seat at Honda in 2009 have slimmed down even further.
The Japanese team announced the drivers it will test for its first off-season tests in Barcelona next week. As expected, the most experienced driver in Formula 1 history, Rubens Barrichello, will not be present.
The other racing driver, Jenson Button and test driver Alex Wurz will be in Spain as well as GP2 drivers Bruno Senna and Lucas di Grassi, who are in the running to take Barrichello’s place next year.
Button and Wurz will be at the wheel of a modified 2008 single-seater, with slick tires and some 2009 components, while Senna and di Grassi will drive an RA108.
The two Brazilians will each have a day and a half of testing to convince Honda of their abilities.
