Hamilton and Mr. Schumacher’s record of seven titles?

Lewis Hamilton confessed that he is not focusing on the record of seven world championship titles held by Michael Schumacher.

In 2008, the British driver became the youngest world champion in the history of Formula 1 while only in his second season.

Hamilton lost the title by just one point a year ago at the start of his career. All these elements suggest that his career will be filled with records.

The McLaren driver has always said that he has a number of goals in Formula 1, but he admits that he is not interested in Schumacher’s record of seven career titles.

« We can always do more. I want to win more races and more championships in Formula 1, but I’m not sure I want to do what Michael Schumacher did in his time, » Hamilton said in an interview for the Woking News & Mail.

« I would be happy to win again and again, but honestly, I haven’t thought much about this topic, » he added.

Schumacher won seven titles and 91 races before retiring at the age of 37.

Hamilton, who will turn 24 in January, also admitted that he was overwhelmed with emotions upon arriving at the Woking factory when the whole team was waiting to celebrate his title.

« As a driver, you are really motivated by the support of your team, but also by the image you don’t want to leave with people. Everyone worked tirelessly to help you, and you lived up to all the efforts made, that’s what I feel the most. »
