Renault concluded today its last testing session of the year with Fernando Alonso covering 124 laps at the wheel of the R28 for this final day of work at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain.
The team benefited from nearly ideal track conditions and was thus able to complete its entire technical program without difficulty. Fernando Alonso continued his tire testing to get used to the 2009 slicks, and the team was able to evaluate different suspension setting options and accumulate mileage on various new parts.
The Renault F1 Team is thus preparing to analyze the data recorded during this session at its Enstone and Viry-Châtillon factories in order to best prepare for the first testing session of the new R29.
Scheduled for the month of January.
Fernando Alonso:
« The day went well, we accumulated quite a few kilometers on the car, which allowed us to make good progress in our understanding of the 2009 version tires. We managed to maximize our time on the track and completed many laps working on the car’s setup. I have already prepared myself a lot physically for the next season, and these few test days were essential for my preparation. I am now looking forward to the first tests with the new single-seater in January. »
Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer:
« It was another productive day, everything went smoothly without
Difficulty. Fernando had a busy schedule and did many laps. We wrapped up the elements that needed to be done. This is the last working session of the year and I want to thank all the members of the testing team for all their efforts this season. We now look forward to unveiling the new car and starting our development program after the holiday season.
