Jenson Button claims that the cost-cutting measures implemented in Formula 1 for 2009, including a total ban on private testing during the season, will have little effect on the races.
The FIA confirmed last week a major revision of the regulations for 2009 in order to reduce team budgets. The other aspect is to avoid another withdrawal after that of Honda Racing a few days ago.
The Briton therefore believes that in the end there will be almost no change during the race.
« Each driver will say that it is regrettable to see tests canceled, but in reality, they are all very excited about this idea because it means extra free time, » said Button, who is still waiting for a buyer for the Honda team to secure his future in F1.
« This will save a lot of money, but other than that, I don’t see any other difference. »
Button thinks that the slick tires and the new aerodynamic regulations will be the keys to the 2009 season.
« On aesthetics, the cars may not be attractive, but when driving, I have better sensations, especially with slick tires. »
