The McLaren and Ferrari teams, both present to test the new Algarve circuit in Portugal, have completed their 2008 tests. Pedro de la Rosa for McLaren clocked the best time of the day ahead of Badoer for the Italian team.
The Spanish driver set his best time at 1:28.993. He worked over 74 laps on gathering aerodynamic data and on the KERS, with McLaren being one of the few teams looking to adapt their device for 2009.
« We made great progress this week. It’s interesting to drive with these new regulations. » Confided Pedro De la Rosa this evening.
Meanwhile, Luca Badoer was in action for Ferrari and completed 75 laps with a best time of 1:30.163. The Italian took advantage of calm and dry weather to focus on tire testing.
Even though at this stage of the off-season, lap times don’t mean much, McLaren has completely dominated Scuderia Ferrari this week. The gap is even more than a second in each session. See you in January for the next F1 tests.
