A 2009 title harder to win according to Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton believes that the regulatory change accompanied by a significant cost reduction implemented for next year will make the quest for a second success more difficult.

The FIA announced last week a large number of measures aimed at reducing budgets in the context of an economic crisis.

These new regulations, including, for example, the ban on testing during the regular season, will be additional constraints for Hamilton in the pursuit of a new triumph.

« I don’t think it will be easier, » announced Hamilton for the Associated Press.

« With the new regulations, it will be more complicated to win the championship again. »

« We will apparently have fewer tests, but I think we have a team that is able to come together and make a difference in another way. And then, everyone is in the same boat. »

Hamilton specified, however, that the team is not overly concerned about these changes. The Woking team simply wants to focus on a different way of working.

« It’s incredible to see the number of changes that can occur in just one year. The teams have considered these measures in the interest of the sport, ensuring that the spectacle is always present, » he stated.

And these various changes could change the game in 2009: « We don’t know which team will be fast. Certainly, we’ll be at the front, maybe with Ferrari or BMW? We’re not quite sure. Maybe, a fourth team at the forefront with us? »

Answer in a few months, the last weekend of March for the Australian Grand Prix…
