But another serious candidate is Carlos Slim, a Mexican billionaire who is the second richest man in the world.

The 68-year-old man, who controls the telecommunications company Telmex, is part of this list of potential buyers as he visited the headquarters of the Honda team in Great Britain last week.

His helicopter was actually too big to land on the helipad and the former team had to close a parking lot for Slim to be able to come. The British newspaper The Sun made this information public.

A buyout by Slim would increase the chances of GP2 driver Bruno Senna, who is supported by the Embratel Telmex subsidiary.

The head of the executive at Honda, Nick Fry declared: « Since the announcement of its withdrawal from Formula 1, Honda has generated real interest. »

« Work on the development of our 2009 car continues to ensure our goal of being on the starting grid of the next Grand Prix in Melbourne in March.
