A new team leader for the STR

Scuderia Toro Rosso has confirmed that Gianfranco Fantuzzi will be the new team leader, replacing Massimo Rivola who has joined Ferrari.

Previously, Fantuzzi worked, among other things, in the field of logistics at Toyota.

This small reshuffle coincides with a desire to continue working hard to prepare for 2009. The goal for the Italian team is to reach the performance level of the last Italian Grand Prix.

The STR will resume its tests in January with a 2008 version single-seater and might have to wait until March for its new STR4.

Although there has been no official announcement regarding next year’s driver line-up, it is most likely that Sébastien Buemi has the green light to take one of the two race seats.

For second place, Sébastien Bourdais and Takuma Sato are in contention. The financial factor should decide whether the Frenchman or the Japanese driver will be at the wheel of the STR4 in 2009.
