The doors close on Bourdais in the United States

After just one season in Formula 1, Sébastien Bourdais sees his future growing dimmer. And for good reason, the 29-year-old Frenchman, a multiple-time champion in the Champ Car World Series, began his F1 driving career with Toro Rosso about a year ago. On Monday, he was not on the official list of 2009 drivers published by the FIA.

The Italian team had recently stated that they were not in a hurry to choose their second driver.

However, according to rumors from the United States, Bourdais could have been a possible replacement for Helio Castroneves in Team Penske in IndyCar.

But Penske announced this Tuesday that the Australian driver Will Power will replace Castroneves as the Brazilian is involved in a money diversion to a tax haven.

The former Bourdais team in Champ Car, Newman / Haas / Lanigan Racing, is now competing in IndyCar. So why not a backup plan for the Frenchman, whose patience is one of his qualities with regards to Scuderia Toro Rosso. But time is running out as the Dutchman Robert Doornbos is now favored to get this seat.

Another racing seat in IndyCar is still available for 2009 at HVM.
