Algarve Day 2 – Buemi Continues His Progress

When you love the leader’s position, you keep it! Sébastien Buemi is once again the holder of the best lap during this second day of testing at the Portimao circuit in Portugal.

It should be noted that Scuderia Toro Rosso is the only team on the track with a 2008 version car but with 2009 downforce levels. It is therefore logical that the Swiss driver faces no opposition this week.

Buemi’s time is three seconds better than his closest rival, Pedro de la Rosa with the MP4/24.

The day began with wet weather, then dry around noon. The bad weather reappeared later with a severe hailstorm.

The teams were not really able to familiarize themselves with their new car. De la Rosa is therefore second at 1:37.512 and nearly five seconds behind Jarno Trulli’s Toyota, who was settling into the TF109 for the first time.

Nelson Piquet is fourth with the new Renault R29, but lost a lot of track time due to an engine problem that the team couldn’t fix quickly.

Nico Rosberg was also present in the cockpit of the Williams FW31 for the first time. He is 5th with a time that does not reflect the performance of the car.
