Ferrari unveiled this week a brand new system installed on the roofs of its engine factory in Maranello. Hundreds of square meters of photovoltaic panels are already in operation, allowing the company to begin its environmental protection program.
Solar panels will reduce the amount of electricity Ferrari uses on the Italian grid by more than 210,000 kWh per year. The system was implemented, among others, by EnerRay, a company of the Maccaferri Group.
The project aligns with the group’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact. The program launched last year includes the construction of an entirely new, third-generation plant, which is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 30%.
Other programs were also launched last year. This is the case, for example, with the Green Grand Prix. The company indeed wants to be the first to promote the operation of a car championship with biofuels. The Ferrari team is thus equipping all A1GP single-seaters and hopes to introduce its biofuels in Formula 1 in a few years.
