Gerhard Berger, an Austrian national, left the sport at the end of last season after selling his 50% stake in Toro Rosso to the Red Bull boss, Dietrich Mateschitz.
And even if he is not actively seeking to make his comeback, he clearly states that he is far from being done with the sport.
When asked in an interview this month if he had achieved all his goals in Formula 1, Berger said: « No, I love what I do. »
« When I stopped with BMW, I was exhausted. Today, I am very happy to close a chapter of my life with some success, and to see what the future may bring me. »
« If something comes up, I would consider it but I am not looking for anything. »
He added: « I don’t see much sense in doing something different because I have been racing for 30 years. If I put my efforts into something, I would like to do it where I have experience. »
