Renault welcomes HP as a new partner

During an event evening on the Champs-Elysées, Renault announced the arrival of a major new partner in its ranks: Hewlett-Packard, better known as HP.

The American brand will provide its computing instruments throughout the 2009 season with the aim of improving on-track performance.

« We are very happy to welcome HP among our technical partners », commented Flavio Briatore, Managing Director of the French team. « The importance of computing in Formula 1 is well-known, and we aim to understand our needs in this area managed by the most prestigious and reliable companies in the world. »

Guillaume Jacquemin, IS-IT Manager added: « The reliability and performance of our IT systems are a critical aspect of our team, from research and development to the production of car parts and their subsequent use in racing. The signing of this agreement with Hewlett-Packard is therefore a very important step in allowing us to maintain our level of competitiveness. »

Olivier Gillet, Marketing Director of HP France explained: « The quality and reliability of the systems and solutions we have provided to the team will help them improve their performance on the track. »

As part of this agreement, HP equipment such as computers, printers, and workstations will be provided to the team’s Technical Center as well as the racing team.

The partnership naturally involves the presence of HP logos on the suits of engineers and mechanics at a minimum. The logo could also be present on the pilots’ suits, but it will not be on the R29 race car.
