Renault improves its performance and focuses on KERS

The Renault F1 Team completed its final day of testing at Jerez this afternoon, with Fernando Alonso at the wheel of the R29.

The team took full advantage of the good weather conditions and continued its testing program, with today’s goal still being to cover as many kilometers as possible and work on fine-tuning and the KERS system. The car went out for shorter periods this morning before doing long runs this afternoon.

Alonso’s day at the wheel of the R29 was very productive and the improvement in times validates the progress in the work accomplished by the team during this week of testing. The team will return to Jerez at the beginning of March to complete its winter testing program.

Fernando Alonso – 3rd:

« After yesterday’s good practice session, we focused on fine-tuning today to better understand the car and to be more comfortable. Overall, we can be very satisfied because we completed many laps and the car responded very well to the adjustments. The car is driving better day by day, and even though we still have a lot of work to do before the start of the season, we are heading in the right direction. »

Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer:

« It was a very good day of testing. We continued to make progress with the car, and it ran very well today, allowing us to do quite a few laps to check reliability. The car responds well to changes, and we’ve already found a good balance. It was a good testing session for us. »

According to a statement from the Renault F1 Team.
