Sakhir Day 3 – Glock the Fastest with Toyota

Timo Glock set the fastest time of the week on Wednesday at the Sakhir circuit. The German driver in the Toyota TF109 had a problem-free day, leaving the Ferrari and BMW Sauber of Felipe Massa and Nick Heidfeld five-tenths behind.

The Toyota, under favorable conditions, achieved a very good performance, setting the best time of the week thanks to good reliability and more than 130 laps completed. The Ferrari F60 and the BMW F109, on the other hand, experienced some issues.

« It’s a very good day, » commented Glock. « We were able to carry out our program without any issues with a good performance on the cards. However, the grip was changing and I didn’t have the same wind as Jarno Trulli yesterday. » Glock taking over for Wednesday and Thursday.

Massa took over from Kimi Räikkönen for Scuderia Ferrari. The Brazilian, vice-world champion, completed 105 laps despite a major gearbox problem after an hour of running this morning. With the problem resolved by noon, Massa took very few breaks during the remaining allotted time.

Finally, Heidfeld covered more than 440 kilometers. He is 76 thousandths behind Massa and also experienced incidents, but only in the afternoon. « We missed a bit of time due to the problems, but we were able to learn a lot from the car and we know where we can now improve. » commented the German.
