The Brazilian oil company Petrobras is eager to remain involved in Formula 1 after deciding not to sponsor Honda this season.

But the company says it is still open to future opportunities in F1, as the sport provides valuable assistance to its development.

According to an official statement: « Petrobras wishes to clarify that it is still interested in Formula 1. »

« The interest of a partnership with a team is to develop Petrobras’s high-quality fuels and lubricants as well as possible. »

The aim of the Petrobras Motor Sports Program is to seek to provide customers with real benefits by using car racing as a product development laboratory. In this objective, Formula 1 has always had a unique role.

The Brazilian company also reiterated that it was not involved in Honda’s survival nor in sponsoring potential drivers like Bruno Senna.

« The company specifies that it does not have a signed agreement with Honda, or a future team for the 2009 Formula 1 season.

« She also recalls that, in accordance with the guidelines established by the Petrobras Motor Sport Program, she does not endorse the drivers either. »
