Peter Windsor and Ken Anderson, the two men behind the USF1 project, want to give their future team a serious image. According to them, they already have the approval of Bernie Ecclestone and Max Mosley, president of the FIA.
The duo officially launched USF1 at a live press conference on SpeedTV yesterday, Tuesday. The team will be operational by 2010 or even earlier.
Windsor stated that the FIA and the Formula One Management (FOM) had been informed of the USF1 plans.
I first spoke to Bernie Ecclestone during the 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix. He just said, ‘to make a great team.’ So, I said ‘okay’ and got to work.
« He has stayed in contact since then and has always been supportive of the project. Whatever we need, he has tried to get it for us. »
« The FIA was also informed in detail about five to six months ago. The organization immediately integrated and accepted us, » continued the 56-year-old Briton.
