Newcomer to the Formula 1 World Championship calendar in 2009, the Abu Dhabi circuit continues to make progress in the construction of its new sports complex.
The ‘Yas Marina Circuit’ could hold a few surprises and twists, knowing that the event will close the championship in November and that all the drivers on the grid will be on equal footing with the numerous changes in the regulations.
In February 2007, it was confirmed that the United Arab Emirates would host their first F1 Grand Prix as early as 2009. Following this announcement, construction of the site began almost immediately.
The track will have a distance of 5.554 kilometers and will feature a spectacular complex around the Marina and the brand new hotel complex, currently under construction.
The new installation is being developed by the company ‘Mixed Use’: About 60% of the first phase of the project has been completed. confirms Steve K. Worrel to Gulf News, who also admitted that some 37,000 workers aim to ensure the project is finished on time.
The Abu Dhabi race, the 17th and final event of the 2009 championship, will take place on November 1st at 3:00 PM local time, which is 7:00 PM in France.
