Renault completed a third day of work at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit. The good weather conditions allowed the team to accumulate as many kilometers as possible, with a total of 152 laps completed. Fernando Alonso recorded the third fastest time of the day.
While yesterday’s work schedule was hindered by relentless rain, the team today benefited from a good track that was completely dry after the first half of the morning. Fernando Alonso evaluated new elements while continuing to accumulate laps. The driver also worked on fine-tuning the car equipped with slick tires.
He will be at the wheel of the R29 again tomorrow, for the last day of testing in Jerez.
Fernando Alonso declared: We completed a very positive day. By completing 152 laps, we recorded important data. It is crucial to spend as much time as possible in the car at this stage of the season. We need to get used to the new regulations like KERS and the adjustable flap wing. I am therefore very satisfied with the good work accomplished today. We learn every day and I feel more and more confident with the car. I hope this dry weather will continue tomorrow so that we can keep working well.
Christian Silk, Chief Test Engineer, added: The track was still a bit wet this morning, so we took the opportunity to go out and test under these conditions and do some laps. By mid-morning, the circuit was completely dry and we were able to complete our program. We had no issues with the car, so we are very satisfied to have achieved the goals we set for ourselves today.
