Today, Friday, Jenson Button gave the new Brawn GP vehicle, the BGP 001, its first shakedown at Silverstone in Great Britain.
A few hours after the official announcement of the sale of Honda Racing to Ross Brawn’s team, the car was on the track at the British circuit, displaying colors such as white, yellow, and black.
She was designed even though the team had no guarantee about her future. Note a rather large nose.
This is the Brackley team’s first race since Honda announced its withdrawal in December.
Since then, she has secured an engine supply contract with Mercedes-Benz and confirmed drivers Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button.
After today’s shakedown, the team will move to Barcelona, Spain, for its first serious tests, with likely further trials the following week in Jerez to try to make up for the delay.
