It is Kovalainen (McLaren) and Nakajima (Williams) who are currently on track again at Jerez for this final test session before the season’s opening in Australia.
The weather had forecast a few showers today but the sun is shining instead, although the temperatures are quite low.
McLaren, reinvigorated by its promising times yesterday, is taking advantage of these final laps to validate its setup while Williams has introduced a new diffuser and a new rear wing.
And these parts seem to be paying off as the Japanese driver, on a 4-lap stint, clocked 1:17.447, which is four-tenths faster than Button’s time last Tuesday, the week’s record.
Kovalainen continues at the same pace as yesterday with the fastest time so far at 1:18.471.
At 11:30, Nakajima and Kovalainen had completed 18 and 22 laps, respectively.
