Lewis Hamilton was promoted to third place in the Australian Grand Prix after Jarno Trulli was penalized.
This third place was the subject of an investigation because the Italian overtook Hamilton during the safety car intervention, but with the aim of regaining his original position as he had gone off into the grass.
The two drivers were summoned to discuss this incident, and it was decided to give Trulli a 25-second penalty. The latter is out of the points at the finish.
Toyota confirmed its intention to appeal this decision.
The race ended under the escort of the safety car, so the drivers almost crossed the finish line simultaneously but had to respect the rankings. For this reason, Trulli, with his 25-second penalty, finds himself almost last in 12th place.
A result, even if unfortunate, that is a bit more in accordance with his starting position in this race. As a reminder, he started from the pits.
This mishap allows Toro Rosso to score three points, and Bourdais to score one.
