Friday: Toyota is far in the rankings but puts things into perspective

The Toyota drivers, such as Jarno Trulli, did not expect these positions. Along with his teammate Timo Glock, they finished the two test sessions beyond or at the 10th place. Positions that do not quite reflect their race weekend last week in Australia.

Toyota is conducting numerous tests to determine the best option for Sunday, for example in terms of tires. Therefore, she is waiting for tomorrow and the qualifications to make a fairly accurate initial judgment.

Jarno Trulli – 11th and 12th:

« Today, everything went well, it was a normal Friday for us. The track was a bit slippery this morning, but it quickly improved for the second session. We completed our program by trying different things with the setup and the tires to improve the car. »

« If you look at the timesheet, we are not as competitive as I thought. I believe the car is behaving well and we just need to take the right direction when it comes to setup. The soft tires seem to be very competitive and performing better than the hard ones. »

Timo Glock – 10th and 14th:

« It was a very difficult day for me. The car was not reliable this morning with some stability issues. Then at the start of the second session, there was oversteering. »

« However, that did not stop us from working on different setups and by the end of the day, it was already better. We still have a lot of work to do before the qualifiers. The situation in Melbourne was similar, after which we made significant progress, so I am optimistic. »

Dieter Gass – Chief Race and Test Engineer:

« It was a fairly normal Friday for us. We focused on the tires, trying to find a good balance on the car. We struggled a bit today to achieve a perfect balance, and we still have work to do on both cars overnight to refine the situation. The goal is to make the most of the package we have. »

« Regarding the tires, we seem to be in a different situation than in Melbourne. The drivers are very close to each other, which is why we are not worried about the positions achieved today. »
