Despite the positions obtained by Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella, Force India fought tooth and nail during free practice 3 and qualifying. Starting from very far back on the Sepang starting grid, with only Buemi behind the two drivers of the Indian team, they can hope for a race as eventful as the one in Melbourne.
And for good reason, Sutil was just one position away from securing Force India’s first point in the championship, which everyone eagerly anticipates. Rain could also make an appearance and completely disrupt the course dynamics. Story to follow…
Adrian Sutil – 17th and 19th:
« We did a good job today, we had no problems. Our pace was good, we couldn’t really do better. We just need to find a correct level of support. For tomorrow, I hope to have a good race and cross the checkered flag. We are very fast in the straights where there’s a chance to overtake. We had an excellent race in Melbourne and anything can happen. I maintain a positive mindset. »
Giancarlo Fisichella – 20th and 18th:
I had a problem with the accelerator pedal on my first flying lap. My fast lap was clean and the car was well balanced. Once again, the drivers are very close to each other. There is a possibility of some rain tomorrow, so we must look to maintain our current form and seize the opportunity when it comes our way.
Dominic Harlow – Chief Engineer course:
« It was a tense session today, with a constant threat of heavy showers that did not materialize. Giancarlo lost ground due to an accelerator pedal issue but managed to recover well with a 0.50-second lead over Adrian. »
« We are expecting an interesting race tomorrow, and we know from last weekend that our consistency coupled with our speed, as well as a creative strategy, can lead to scoring points. »
