Reaction from Ross Brawn to the Court of Appeal’s decision

Following the FIA hearing in Paris on Tuesday, April 14, the court of appeal confirmed that the Brawn GP BGP 001 was perfectly in compliance with the technical regulations.

Ross Brawn, director of the Brawn GP team, stated: “We are satisfied with the decision made by the international court of appeal today. We respect our competitors’ right to request any clarification on a design or idea used on our cars, using the official channels available.”

« The FIA technical department, the stewards of the Australian and Malaysian Grand Prix, and now five judges of the International Court of Appeal have confirmed our belief that our cars have always strictly adhered to the 2009 technical regulations. »

The decision of the court of appeal thus puts an end to this controversy, and we are delighted to continue on the track the challenge of this 2009 World Championship, which had a very exciting start for us.

Brawn GP can therefore continue optimizing its car. Ross Brawn is still anticipating numerous developments, while most of his competitors will work tirelessly to try to make up for lost time.

Note that if the decision had made the diffusers illegal, Brawn GP would not only have been disqualified from the first two races and lost its two victories but also would have had to bring a compliant car to China and for the rest of the season.
