Ron Dennis is in a position to make an official announcement about his role within the McLaren company.
He will be much more interested in the road car development service rather than in racing cars.
Dennis, having handed over the responsibility of the main functions of the F1 team to Martin Whitmarsh for 2008, has worked for the silver arrows for 28 years, with the greatest drivers.
The team endured an extremely difficult start to the 2009 season, with the exclusion of the world champion driver, Lewis Hamilton, at the Australian Grand Prix last March, following an incident that led to the suspension and then the dismissal of the team manager, Dave Ryan, for providing false information to the FIA.
In addition to the major media criticism regarding Lewis Hamilton, McLaren is summoned to attend a FIA hearing in Paris on Wednesday, April 29, to address the false information given during the incident with Jarno Trulli, which could result in a permanent exclusion from the 2009 season.
Present for the season opening, Ron Dennis was not present for the second race in Malaysia and is not expected to be for the majority of the rest of the season.
The news of a possible retirement for Ron Dennis comes at a particularly difficult time for the team, where Anthony Hamilton, father and manager of Lewis Hamilton, furiously contested the orders given to his son during the Melbourne Grand Prix and threatened a possible departure of Lewis Hamilton to another team.
