The director of the Toro Rosso team, Franz Tost, supports the recent statements of Alain Prost, who is quite critical of the only French driver involved in F1 this year.
Last week, following Sébastien Bourdais’ comments that his car was not suited to his style, Alain Prost stated that Bourdais « tends to quickly see things in a negative light ».
Franz Tost, in the columns of Auto Motor und Sport, also confirmed this trend: « He knows how to drive a race car quickly, however, his negative attitude takes over too often. »
Bourdais scored only one of Toro Rosso’s four points this season, but even the rookie Sébastien Buemi, his teammate, does not escape Franz Tost’s remarks.
Buemi and Bourdais qualified 17th and last in Bahrain last weekend, and even though the circuit with heavy braking doesn’t particularly suit the STR4, the Toro Rosso management suggests that driving errors complicated the situation.
« With such small gaps between the cars, you cannot afford the slightest mistake. Our drivers must understand this, » stated Tost.
