The leader of the world championship, Jenson Button, has announced that he will participate in the London triathlon this year. Known as one of the fittest drivers, along with Mark Webber, the Brawn GP driver confirmed that this August event will be part of his 2009 fitness program.
Furthermore, Button stated that another motivation for taking part in this triathlon is to raise money and donate it to charitable organizations.
«I’m aiming for a spot in the top 10, so no pressure » stated Button to the agency GMM news.
The London Triathlon is the largest in the world, with 1500 meters of swimming, 40 km of cycling, and 10 km of running. The event attracts a minimum of 11,000 competitors each year and takes place in the London Excel Exhibition Center.
This won’t be Jenson Button’s first triathlon in the United Kingdom; he participated in the Windsor Triathlon last year where he finished 117th out of 1624 participants who completed the race (14th in the male group aged 25 to 29).
