According to the founder of the Williams team, the Italian leaders should accept the budget cap and thus remain in F1.
Speaking of the current threats from Ferrari, Frank Williams stated: « They (Ferrari) are a very, very strong and very rich team. It would be a great shame if they leave. »
« They have been under the current Concorde agreement for many years and, under the previous one, putting them in a very privileged position. If this had been revealed earlier, it wouldn’t have gone down very well, so I think with the competition authorities in Brussels, it would be preferable for them to accept the new regulations and remain in F1.
Franck Williams is one of the fervent advocates of budget capping, one of the few team principals already in F1 to want it. He thus adds a bit of spice to an already very hot sauce. A meeting is to be held today to clarify the situation. More information will be available in the evening or tomorrow morning.
