As we revealed to you this morning the possibility of Superfund entering F1 next year, another team wishes to take the same path, except it will be a return: March Racing has submitted its registration for the championship!
March Engineering was founded in 1969 by Max Mosley, Alan Rees, Graham Coaker, and Robin Herd, with the initials of the founders creating the word MARCH. The team was later sold to Akira Akagi in 1989 to race under the Leyton House brand. The return to the March name occurred in 1992 with the takeover of the team by Andrew Fitton, but the venture ended at the end of that year.
Fitton still holds the rights to the March name and submitted his application to the FIA early last week, receiving confirmation on Thursday.
This makes 17 teams that have submitted their applications for the next World Championship; it is clear that the outcome of the FIA’s deliberation on June 12 will leave some disappointed…
Reminder of the 7 new teams that have registered:
– Campos Racing
– Lite Speed
– Lola
– March
– Prodrive
– Team Superfund
– USF1
