Natacha Gachnang aims for a Campos seat next year

The fact that Danica Patrick no longer seems truly interested in F1 and appears more eager to go into NASCAR does not mean that the grid has no chance of welcoming a female driver.

Indeed, Natacha Gachnang (who is the cousin of Sébastien Buemi!) has expressed interest in a Formula 1 seat in the future. Putting aside all the political and crisis aspects currently facing Formula 1, the 21-year-old Swiss driver revealed that a test with the new Campos team was very possible. Natacha is racing this year in the F2 championship, a series created and managed by Max Mosley with the aim of competing with GP2 as a ‘talent scouting series for F1’.

Natacha Gachnang told the Spanish newspaper Marca that discussions with Adrian Campos had already begun for a possible collaboration. Campos is not a stranger to the driver as she has already raced for the team before in the Spanish F3 championship.

According to the driver: « He believes in me after we’ve spent time together in the Spanish F3 championship. »

In the past, only five women have raced in Formula 1, and only two of them managed to qualify for a Grand Prix start. Lella Lombardi is the most capped with 12 starts and 0.5 points scored in 1975.
