Liam Lawson frustrated not to have made it to Q3

« It’s a bit frustrating not to be in Q3 with such a small margin. » For 43 thousandths, Liam Lawson misses out on a second consecutive Q3, after Singapore. Despite this frustration, the New Zealander is satisfied with this performance, considering he wasn’t confident before the qualifying sessions.

« With the information we had after the practice sessions, we didn’t expect to be very strong, so we were quite aggressive with the tires in Q1, and we only had one fresh set of soft tires left for Q2. To be honest, I wasn’t very confident before the qualifying session », admits Daniel Ricciardo’s substitute.

Close to the top 10, Liam Lawson sees this as an opportunity to enter the points zone tomorrow during the race. « Now, it’s about making the most of tomorrow’s race. I think the afternoon will be long because the tires are struggling a lot, but it’s the same for everyone. We must focus on getting the most out of our package and I hope Yuki and I will have a good race. »

In the standings, Liam Lawson has two points, which he obtained last weekend in Singapore. This result did not allow him to be retained by AlphaTauri for the 2024 season.
