Lewis Hamilton stated this week that he would regret Pedro De la Rosa’s presence in the McLaren team if the home test driver decides to leave the English team at the end of the season.
« I always wish him the best because he’s a great teammate, » declared the world champion.
Rumors indeed claim that the owner of the Campos team, Adrian Campos, wishes to have at least one experienced driver with him, and that he will support Spanish drivers as much as he can. A great opportunity for Pedro De la Rosa, who has the perfect profile with 72 Grand Prix races under his belt, the last one at Interlagos in October 2006.
Hamilton continued about his teammate: « If he decides to leave the team, I will miss him because it’s a pleasure to work with him, he’s fun, he’s a hard worker, and he’s always there for you even in difficult times. I would like him to stay. »
According to the Spanish press, the new Campos team is set to reveal the names of its drivers for 2010 during the European Grand Prix in Valencia next month. Adrian Campos had already indicated a few weeks ago the names of drivers on his list: Pedro De la Rosa, Marc Gene, Javier Villa, and Roldan Rodriguez.
« I will talk to them. I want to try to help Spanish drivers, but that doesn’t mean anyone can drive for us just because they are Spanish, » explained the team manager, a former Minardi driver.
