As the driver transfer season is just beginning, it is the partnerships between teams and sponsors that are currently dominating F1 news.
After Manor teamed up with Virgin for next year, it seems that the new USF1 team is in talks with the YouTube group for a sponsorship partnership starting in 2010.
At the British Grand Prix two weeks ago at Silverstone, Chad Hurley, the co-founder of YouTube, was spotted in the paddock. The guest was not interviewed over the weekend, but speculation about his interest in engaging with a team quickly spread through the media, particularly with the fellow American team, USF1.
When asked about the issue, the team’s co-owner, Peter Windsor, did not deny this rumor that is quite favorable to the team: « I saw Chad at Silverstone, indeed, he was around, and it was good to see him here. People associate him with our team, which is extremely flattering, and who knows? »
The Star-Spangled team seems very attractive to American companies, as a rumor a few months ago suggested a partnership with the Google group, owner of YouTube. However, neither of these pieces of information has been confirmed or denied.
Windsor, however, specified that the operational details regarding its team, including drivers, sponsors, and a potential European base, would be revealed very soon…
