Oscar Piastri elected driver of the day at Suzuka
The McLaren driver has achieved a new podium, this season, at the Japanese Grand Prix. His performance in Suzuka has earned him the title of driver of the day.
He shows once again that he belongs in Formula 1. First qualified on the front row, a first for him, Oscar Piastri completed an almost perfect race. At the start, he tried to overtake Max Verstappen, but the Dutchman squeezed him, preventing the maneuver from being successful.
The Australian also played along with the team’s game to secure a podium for both McLarens. Oscar Piatsri gave up his second position to his teammate, with a higher pace. This is the only thing that can be criticized about him in this Japanese Grand Prix.
In the pit stop game, he was able to climb up the hierarchy with daring overtakes, like on George Russell, on a different strategy.
The Australian made no mistakes in Suzuka. A performance that brings him to the Formula 1 podium for the first time. This comes after his podium finish in the sprint race at the Belgian Grand Prix where he had finished just behind Max Verstappen.
