Assessment: Small Points for Toyota

Toyota managed to finish in the points during this Hungarian Grand Prix. Starting from far behind, the drivers succeeded in delivering an honorable race and consolidating their 3rd place in the constructors’ championship. Timo Glock finished in 6th place while his teammate Jarno Trulli took 8th place.

Timo Glock – 6th:

« I really enjoyed my race, and finishing in the top six after starting from 13th place is a very good result. I have to thank the team for their work, especially my mechanics who did an excellent job. Our strategy was really aggressive today. During my first stint, with a heavy fuel load, I struggled a bit at first, but I found the right pace afterward. I had a very good feeling with the car and the tires were performing well. This result is better than we could have expected, I’m happy and it’s great to be back in the points.

Jarno Trulli – 8th:

« I said yesterday that I never give up and I think today’s result shows that I was able to finish in the points. The car seemed complicated at the beginning of the race, and I think I had a good pace afterwards, but I was stuck in traffic, which made things complicated. Later, I started to lose a bit of grip, but I kept fighting because I knew we could be in the points. It’s just a shame to start outside the top 10, because who knows what we could have done in the race, but I am very happy to be back in the points, and it’s a positive result for the team. »

John Howett – President:

« It was a very strong team and I am happy with our performance today, especially after the difficult qualifying session. The drivers drove well, and we had a solid strategy. We need to understand what our problem is in qualifying, and we will work hard to fix it. We will gather our strength during the holidays and come back with renewed vigor in Valencia where we had good results last year.
