Duel of champions at Ferrari, not seen since 1953!

With the arrival of Schumacher and Finnish driver Räikkönen, the Italian team will once again have two world champion drivers. This hasn’t happened since 1953 with Farina and Ascari.

It was the first time that two world champions were in the same team at Scuderia Ferrari. Nino Farina won the first world championship in 1950 at the wheel of an Alfa Romeo, while Alberto Ascari was crowned world champion in 1952 before winning the title again in 1953. On August 23, two world champions will once again share the Ferrari team. One is the greatest champion of all time statistically, and the other is considered one of the fastest drivers of recent times. In 60 years, this will be only the second time that two world champions have been assembled in the same Ferrari team.

For the Finn, it will be a very tough challenge. Indeed, if the German champion, after a few years of retirement and an advanced age of 40, finishes ahead of Kimi Räikkönen, sharp criticism will fall on Iceman and his rally adventures. The Finn doesn’t seem to change:

« For me, there is no difference regarding the driver of the second car. I don’t think Michael is 100% sure to race; he should have a first test. But it will definitely be beneficial to have a teammate like him. »

In the meantime, Schumacher, with 7 world championship titles under his belt, has very little to lose. If the German champion can match the performances of these young contenders, there will be thunderous applause for Michael Schumacher. A duel within the Scuderia between Schumacher and Räikkönen could begin…with Farina and Ascari in memory.
