Adrian Campos rejected the rumors that said his Campos-Meta Team would not be able to make its debut in 2010 as planned.
Joan Villadelprat, whose Epsilon-Euskadi team project had not been selected by the FIA, suggested this weekend that among the three new 2010 teams USF1, Manor, and Campos, the latter two were the least advanced for the leap into F1.
Asked about these rumors by the Spanish newspaper El Pais, Campos responded bluntly: “They are wrong.”
The former Minardi driver specified that the trucks and motorhomes had been purchased, the team personnel had been selected, the headquarters in Valencia had been renovated, and finally, the chassis partner Dallara had promised that the car would be ready for a first test on January 10.
« There is no reason to doubt us. We will be in F1. » added Campos, completing the interview with the team’s annual budget, which would be between 45 and 50 million euros.
He also announced that it was still too early to talk about possible drivers but confirmed he was in negotiations with Spaniards Pedro De la Rosa and Marc Gene, as he wants an experienced driver alongside a young prospect.
For the second seat, El Pais mentioned Vitaly Petrov, Bruno Senna, Sergio Perez, and Karun Chandhok.
