Ross Brawn, head of Brawn GP since his departure from Scuderia Ferrari, bet that Michael Schumacher could win a race and that his driver Jenson Button would be world champion by the end of the season.
«It is obvious that he [Michael Schumacher] has everything to gain with his Ferrari, » declared Brawn, who believes that the cars have changed a lot since Schumacher’s retirement. Brawn GP team leader Ross Brawn has bet on a victory for Michael Schumacher before Felipe Massa returns to Formula 1. Brawn also hopes that his driver Jenson Button will win the title this year.
In an interview published today by the Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Ross Brawn is sure that if the German doesn’t win a race from now until the end of the season, it won’t be his fault, but because the F60 is not competitive.
The team owner, who admits he hasn’t noticed the time passing since the German champion’s retirement, recalls the fabulous Grand Prix he achieved in Brazil in 2006. Brawn states that, during the past three years, the seven-time world champion has remained in good shape and has been able to drive karts and motorcycles.
Regarding his team’s performance, Brawn claims he is confident, but he would indeed be more relaxed if he could have done some testing.
