Saturday: The Williams Struggling in Belgium

The Spa Grand Prix will not see Williams at the front. Definitely struggling, the Williams cannot adapt to the Belgian circuit. It was a very poor 19th place for the Japanese driver Nakajima during the last free practice session. His teammate, Nico Rosberg, salvages the situation with the 7th fastest time of the morning.

During the qualifying session, Nico Rosberg managed to qualify for Q3, ahead of illustrious world champions, but could not do better than 10th place due to a heavy fuel load. Kazuki Nakajima will start from the second-to-last row, just ahead of Romain Grosjean and Luca Badoer. Not extraordinary for a team competing to finish in the top 5 of the constructors’ championship at the end of the season. The goal will clearly be to be in the points for the young German.

Nico Rosberg – 7th and 10th:

«We really struggled all weekend, but we managed to get the best out of our car in Q2 to finish 10th. It was probably the best position we could achieve while carrying a lot of fuel. We have a good strategy, so I think we can fight for some points tomorrow. It was a very strange qualifying session today, and I think the way teams use their tires makes all the difference.»

Kazuki Nakajima – 19th and 18th:

We were having difficulty with this track. But Nico managed to drive very well and find a setup that I haven’t. I hope I can learn and make progress thanks to his performance today. I will try to get a better time in the race tomorrow to make up for today’s disappointment.

Sam Michael – Technical Director :

«We had a very difficult session yesterday, and we changed a lot of things overnight, which improved the car. It was an incredibly tight session considering the times achieved. Nico did a fantastic job to get the car into Q3. We adjusted our strategy for the race. Congratulations to Force India for their first pole. »
